When I was reading the Bible I saw the line that said "and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." But God doesn't begin creating things until verse 3, Day One of creation, "Let there be light." So water was aready here before the six days of creation. So has water always existed? Did God create the water earlier before He began the six day of creation? If so, why? Dalton -- 8 yrs old

Water-Creation

As I read it, the very first thing created was the "heavens and the earth." The earth was completely covered in water, which is indicated by "the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Then God creates on the second day an "expanse between the waters to separate water from water," which is further indication that all there was initially was water.

The third day the waters were "gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear" which seems to be the first indication of any land and would mean prior to that it was all water covered.

water and light

You have some very good questions Dalton. I don't know about the water question, but did you notice that God said let there be light on Day 1 and then he didn't create the sun, moon and stars until another day? In the book of Revelation it says that in heaven there is no need for the sun, because Jesus is the Light.......isn't that cool?
